Quilt exchange

Here is the quilt I got from Carol in Texas.

Close up of beading, crochet and embroidery.

This is what I made for Carol.

I`m a member of the Art 4 Mail group and love mini quilts and Quilties. So when the new challenge of a Winter mini quilt came I signed up. I love to combine different textures and materials. On this quilt I used velvet ribbon ,rickrack ,lace trimm and felting with embroidery stitches.

Gathering supplies

When I signed up for the CQI Group challenge to make  a Crazy Quilt Block in the colors of the German Flag I was really exited. First I had to see what I wanted to put on my block that is German in my eyes. And here is my first buy a VW Beetle-VW Kaefer, oh yes I love driving on the Autobahn, left lane only !

Still stiching on Crazy Quilt Blocks

This is Darlene`s Jewels on Black Block. She will make a Wall hanging for her Husband`s office and requested Paisley`s as her theme. I used Ties  and appliqued my paisleys onto the black background. With a  metal thread in bright colors went on to make some spider web`s and 2 green spiders out of beads. To finish I found this really colorful button for for the empty space in the middle.

Autumn Block for my CQI group. I wanted to keep it simple,so worked all the seam treatments first. Found some silk and velvet leafs to add,a leaf charm and embroidered one leaf .

This close up shows a little mirror with beads in green and  a shimmer of purple.

I never thought I would like to embroider as much as I do now. It is the whole concept of designing and getting to the end result as I see it in my head.

Still cleaning up

Finally the Shelf is all organized and labeled.I even found Quilt Patterns I did not remember having.

This is the wall next to the shelf, the girls are all set up and ready to play.

My word for 2011 is...

Organize
When I got up this morning I knew it was time to Organize. So I had my coffee and went into my Studio. Yes it needed to be cleaned up, I know I have allot of things but not always sure where they are.My husband put up this little cabinet  for my big spool threads. It was taken out of the old bathroom and is just perfect in this small niche.

First Posting of 2011 Knitting

Did I say it was out of this world?

and very colorful? Not your everyday hat !

With the cold coming and hoping for a little snow I decided to make myself a knitted hat. My leftover yarn from the scarfs had to do the job and it took me a day and a half. Here is the end result......
