Final Roses Block finished

The theme was roses and the color to be used golds and black, I used a rose trim with black leaf trim on top of it,a golden butterfly, black seam treatment with gold Glass hearts and a antique rose button I won at an auction, the corner was the perfect spot for it.

a gold velvet trim with black embroidery on top  and black beads and my shoe as a vessel to hold the roses .

 all of my work

this is the completed block, it is very charming and I like the shape , thinking what I would do with it ,wondering what Gerry will make out of it.
This was a small area to work on but fun to do so! I hope it is was Gerry wanted . I love the color combination, will have to put this in my to do book.

Meg`s Asian Nights Block

I actually forgot to take a picture of my work, so I took it out of the envelope at work and made a color copy . As you can see it is not the best picture but you can at least see the Paisley, the wonderful trim from India and my little Elephant with his cross stitch blanket.I know Meg does not care for images but as she lives and travels all over the world I know she will appreciate the trim, mirror and shell beads I have ordered from India . I hope she likes what I did.

I just reduced my On-line group membership`s

I have just decided to leave 9 of my On-Line Groups. I have always enjoyed them but lately I guess I got a little disappointed, upset or picky with my trades and RR`s. So today was the day to finally reduce them and now I belong to only 4 groups which are  Art4mail,Crazy quilting International , Fast Friday Fabric Challenge and Knitting Delight. This will give me more time to spent with my favorite `s.

New Block,ready to travel

This is my new block . It will be part of a new Wall hanging with " Roses " as the theme. I was after Thanksgiving shopping and found a wonderful Roses print on flannel. So I decided to make it a new theme for my spring bedroom. My quilt is almost done so I had to make this block for the next RR and it will be a Fabulous First Timer`s.Next I will be making some throw pillows to finish my set. I will be posting about it the next few weeks as I get things done.

What a Swap Disapointment

This is what I just received yesterday from one of my Online groups. When this swap was announced I jumped and started my blocks I was so excited to swap with all these wonderful ladies ,as the date came to swap there was nobody to swap with everyone needed extra time so the date was moved and as the second time came to swap I mailed my blocks and was like a little child on X-mas morning could not wait to see what I got.And when I removed the blocks from the envelop my heart just sunk and disappointment took over.  It was supposed to be a cream on cream theme ,which was changed to cream with tans which in the fabrics is O.K.  But it was the work on the blocks that I was so upset about.  Some looked just messy and carelessly thrown together, added colors which I do not understand on a tone on tone theme and to get two blocks that are exactly the same ? .I did get one of my own blocks back and thank`s to Rose Anne  I have this Beauty!

As you can see this is the kind of block   I was expecting to get back, and here are all of my blocks .

I was so disappointed that I for the first time ever I mailed the group to let them know how I felt. I have never changed someone`s work but this will be a first for me.I will take them and reuse the blocks adding my own lace, embroidery and embellishments I have put a lot of time, work and money into my blocks and to have received what I did just made me decide this is a lesson learned ,first and last time for such a swap.

Lace and Pearls block

I hand painted the leafs of this little lace applique basket and just added Silk ribbon embroidery. This is to counter the sweet little lady on the bottom  with her flower hat.

This is the block after Nicki Lee and my work.I just took the colors from Nick's SRE and embroidered right on top of the lace I had placed . Hand painted green leaf lace appliques and a flower spray in peach colored Venice lace where also added. My pearls in pink ,cream and white, few sequins and 2 buttons to give it some sparkle. Now it is ready to move on to the next member of this wonderful RR.

I started a new knitting project or a new UFO?

This is how far I got with my new sweater. Looked at old magazines last night and this was one of the few I liked and had yarn for.So at 8.30 this morning I started , had to knit back two rows because I miss counted and finally finished my first skein of 125 yard pure cotton. Now off to take a short nap and see if I can finish another skein today.
