My entries for the PNQE Show

I was finally able to get the O.K. to post pictures of my two quilts for the SAT 16 Challenge from the Stretching Art and Traditions. This year was Illuminated Letters and mine are my initials RC. I painted the R and added 3-D roses made out of satin ribbon and embroidered silk ribbon roses , my inspiration was my Tattoo ! The letter C was a challenge because it is raw edge applique and that is totally against my love for perfection, I added the tree which was a hankie or doily I found in the thrift shop and placed a little bracelet charm from my home town on the branch.  Now it was time to design  a family crest . My maiden name is Wolf and my husbands last name is Cruz .

More Crazy Quilting done

This is my Jewels on Black Wall hanging ! the blocks were done such a long time ago and I finally got it set and done. I decided to use a dark blood red silk with it and just stippled it , it did come out just as I was hoping . I was thinking of using black for the background first but then decided it was the obvious choice and that was absolutely not if I wanted to have the blocks stand out !

Last block finished

The beginning......
I was a little disappointed when I first saw the block, I had loved the work and feeling the upper right corner garden of flowers and it`s surrounding patches brought to the fabric.

to bring this block together I used the same colors on my lace seam treatment

this lonely flower got a few leavesI wanted to lighten  the contrast of the dark green and used several of lighter green shades for my leaves

my little flower basket

and again I mimicked the wonderful seam treatment with my pearls and added the lace  with yellow beads and purple  embroidery

this was my challenge it took me a while to find the right middle part of this patch, bling flower and a charm bee finished the lace leaves, 3-D flowers and my SRE

 The End !

Anything Goes Block for Nicki Lee

This is the block after I had worked on the upper right corner with the lace as a seam treatment and the little crochet flowers to enhance the seam.

She is completed with flower in her hair and take out box!

Who said there is no  Asian Bling ? You better believe it there is such thing ! Nicki Lee loves lace and bling so here I decided to add the bling to show of the Pagoda charm.
I had so  much fun with this block !

2014 Crazy Quilt Retreat in Kansas City

I have been feeling down a little lately, not working , gaining weight  and a few other things now with Christmas coming I get more homesick then ever. I went shopping yesterday and found a few supplies, beads and  three books. I enjoy small designs I can cross stitch onto the CQ blocks and this book is just perfect for it . The other book is also what I was just looking for,  now trying to see which one I will use first! So when I told my wonderful hubby about the 2014 Retreat in Kansas City for the Crazy quilting group I`m a member of online he just said go I will pay for it, I cant wait to meet all the Ladies!

I baked a new bread and finished another UFO Block

I was looking for a new recipe for a easy white bread and did find it here

 http://www.chefkoch.de/rezepte/200211084628756/Bruschetta-Brot.html

you can trans late the page to English. The dough was easy to make, I baked it on a pizza stone at 437 electric oven for 35 minutes and it was just perfect. I also tried something new with it called magic mud, 200ml water ,1tblspoon starch,1tblspoon salt bring to a boil and safe in the refrigerator. I brushed it on right in the middle of the baking time and it made the bread shiny just like the ones in the store. Smells good and taste`s even better ,I took half over to my neighbor for dinner because tomorrow I will make my Grandma`s sweet bread. While my bread was baking I finished my Autumn DYB , this has been sometime now and I got only one more UFO Block left to finish ! Well I guess staying home is not so bad after all, today I final figured out why I don't get all the things done I plan for each day "the days are shorter" I`m pretty sure about it  because at work the day would take so much longer to end !

Black and Jewel colors block finally finished

I do not even remember when this Jewel tones on Black RR was. So I was very happy to finally finish this block this morning . Now I will have to think what kind of fabric and color to use to bring them all together, I know black would be just perfect but I would like to get something more unexpected!
 my own block

 all six blocks together

I got a new snowball in the mail

This is a wonderful new snowball I got yesterday in the mail from Tahlia . I love the roses and look at that awesome tatted dragonfly, I was so happy that I had asked Tahlia to swap with me, now I have to make sure she likes the one I will make for her just as much as I love hers!

Alice`s Block

It was such fun working on this block that I could easily have finished it all by myself. When I first saw the block I knew that I wanted to make a seam treatment with silk ribbon and beads. Keeping with the colors requested by Alice I decided to make swags, flowers and add my glass heart beads. The silkie was ironed to hot and burned on the bottom so I wanted to cover it up with the gold trim. The gold lace motive was a gift that Meg W. had sent some time ago and it was the perfect addition , I did some gold thread stitching to finish my work I wanted to fill up the upper empty part with the Art Nouveau cabochon . I do hope that Alice will like my work .
